David K. doesn't get out much...

This author needs to get out more. Yesterday he reported on the Sunday Faces against Asarco by quoting others, and today he reports on the event by reporting on what the NEWS said?

ETHNICITY AND CLASS ARE NOT THE ISSUES HERE however hard he tries to "re-frame" it that way -- the toxins that Asarco, the TCEQ and EPA are hiding do not discriminate between classes or races. The poisons affect us all.

Why is it so difficult to write about the secret EPA document that the DOJ released? It can be hard to face facts...

Tucson-based copper producer Asarco LLC is asking the bankruptcy court to raise the salary of its CEO, Joseph Lapinsky, from $425,000 to $500,000, pay him an $85,000 bonus, and make him eligible for another performance bonus payable at the discretion of the board up to 75 percent of his salary, Bloomberg News reported....."

We know know that Asarco, Dupont and Englehard --- all caught by EPA and the US DOJ as sending illegal wastes to be burned here (the EPA still refused to release the invoices listed by ID numbers in the 1998 73 page US DOJ EPA secret document NYTimes 10/2006) were US DOE HIGH LEVEL RADIOACTIVE WASTE DISPOSAL CONTRACTORS. TO THIS DAY none of them have been held responsible through the bankruptcy court for ANY of the illegal waste disposal damage to our community and its water. It is very likely that they hid under the protection of the 1940's Atomic energy act (see book on rocky flats plutonium site by Karen Iversen).
